CTI's Annual Career Festival

03-04 July 2014

In July of this year, CTI organised an annual Career Festival for its students and general public. The main objective was to inform the young and future professionals about career opportunities and give them the possibility of meeting potential employers. More than 350 students, 22 companies and 4 guest speakers responded to our invitation, making the event a real success.

This year's Career Festival took place on 3 and 4 July in the auditorium. A series of distinguished speakers from key sectors of the economy were invited to share their knowledge and experience with the view of helping students determine their future career options. Mr Cedric de Speville, CEO of Food and Allied Group, Mr Afsar Ebrahim, Deputy Group Managing Director BDO, Mr Tim Taylor, Chairman Scott Ltd and Mr Florent Beusse, Managing Director Atoba, accepted our invitation and delighted our students with tips, anecdotes, and downright humour.

"A degree is an essential passport for the job market," confirmed Cedric de Spéville during his presentation, "but at the end of the day it is you who need to make the difference during the interview. You need to demonstrate to your potential employer that you also have the passion, drive and will to succeed."

On Day Two, those present were also able to attend a number of interesting workshops run by various experts in the field, ranging from Personal Branding and Grooming for Success, to How to secure a job through Social Media and Tips on CV Writing/.
