About the job

As an Assistant Information Technology (IT) Auditor, you will be involved in providing audit services in accordance with defined standards and methodologies to assist clients in protecting and controlling information systems. You will be part of a team, helping you in identifying issues and providing recommendations to support and safeguard the governance of information and related technologies. The role includes assessing controls as part of Information Systems Acquisition, Development and Implementation, and performing Data Extraction, Transformation, Loading and Analysis. The IT Auditor now has the extended role of Understanding Cybersecurity, identifying risk factors related to cybersecurity and whether these result in risks of material misstatement to the financial statements. As part of the EY audit team, you will focus on quality and will be bound by a service approach that is connected, responsive and insightful.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain an initial understanding of the entity’s use of IT and the complexity of the IT environment
  • Participate in discussions with the financial audit team members on the effect of an entity’s use of IT on its financial statements
  • Understand IT processes (Manage Change, Manage Access, Manage IT Operations) and related risks
  • Identify IT General Controls (ITGCs) to address IT process risks
  • Test ITGCs or perform IT-substantive procedures
  • Respond to deficiencies identified
  • Assist in analysing audit evidence to provide management with an evaluation of the adequacy of system controls and make recommendations for improvement
  • Evaluate controls used at the Service Organisation
  • Understand and assess the design of application controls and determine that the controls have been implemented
  • Perform procedures over IT environment components such as the Database and the Operating System
  • Perform an understanding of Cybersecurity and related risks
  • Assist the audit team in data extraction from client system and perform transformation and loading of data provided by the client
  • Perform data analysis of client data, covering the General Ledger, AP, AR, and other key business processes
  • Perform Data Migration Governance review
  • Review the effectiveness of the data conversion process and integrity of migrated data following change / upgrade in client applications
  • Assist in draft audit reports and complete audit documentation

To qualify for the role, you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Accounting, MIS, or in other related discipline
  • Maximum of 2 years of relevant experience (No experience is also acceptable)
